When Independent Monitoring Consultants moved their office from Parramatta to Blacktown, the new space needed meeting rooms that were properly set up from day one. Four rooms, four displays, with the right screen size and the right mount for each space.
Display Australia supplied four Samsung BEFX-H displays across three different sizes, along with the mounts for each room. Independent Monitoring Consultants handled the physical installation themselves, with video conferencing bars added to each room separately.
Not every meeting room is the same size, and putting the same screen in every room is usually a mistake. A 55-inch display that works well in a small four-person room will get lost in a boardroom that seats twelve.
We specified three different screen sizes across the four rooms to make sure the display was appropriate for the space and the viewing distance involved.
The 55-inch BEFX-H went into the smallest room. The 65-inch covered the mid-size rooms. The 85-inch went into the largest space where a smaller screen would have made presentations difficult to follow from the back of the room.
Samsung BEFX-H - 55", 65" and 85"
The BEFX-H is Samsung's commercial display built for meeting rooms and professional environments. It runs on Tizen OS and has a built-in TV tuner alongside a full suite of streaming apps including Netflix, YouTube, and other services available through Samsung's app store.
For Independent Monitoring Consultants, this meant each room got a display that could handle a meeting room workload during business hours and work as a fully featured screen in the break room outside of them. No additional devices or subscriptions needed to access the apps. Everything is built into the panel.
The commercial-grade specification also matters in an office environment. These displays are built to run consistently over long hours, hold their brightness in a well-lit room, and handle the daily use that would wear out a consumer television inside a year or two.
Getting the mount right matters as much as getting the screen right.
Three of the four rooms received fixed wall mounts. In a conference or meeting room environment, a fixed mount keeps the display stable, reduces cable management complexity, and puts the screen in the right position for the room layout without needing adjustment.
The fourth mount, fitted in the break room, is a full motion arm. This gives staff the flexibility to reposition the screen depending on where they are sitting. A break room is a different use case to a conference room. People are not always sitting in the same spot, and being able to tilt and swing the display makes the space more usable.
Each meeting room runs its display as an all-in-one solution. The BEFX-H connects with the video conferencing bar in each room to handle calls and presentations, and the built-in apps mean the screens are useful outside of meetings as well.
Staff are using the full feature set of the BEFX-H range. The built-in TV tuner and streaming apps including Netflix and YouTube get regular use, particularly in the break room. There is no need for a separate streaming device or additional hardware to access any of it.
Four rooms, four displays, all running without any extra boxes or dongles behind them.
