The lobby of a premium commercial building is more than just a waiting area; it’s a statement of the building's identity. For ISPT’s 18 Marcus Clarke building in Canberra (part of the Pathway Place precinct), the ground floor is a beautifully curated space featuring elegant furnishings and stunning tapestries from Indigenous artists.
Building management needed a way to dynamically communicate with tenants and visitors, sharing everything from community initiatives and sustainability programs (like battery recycling) to wayfinding and exhibition details.
Traditional printed pull-up banners or standard, clunky TV screens would instantly ruin the gallery-like aesthetic of the space. ISPT needed a digital communication platform that felt like a deliberate architectural and artistic choice, not a disruptive technological afterthought.
The installation successfully bridged the gap between operational necessity and interior design. The lobby of 18 Marcus Clarke now boasts a state-of-the-art communication network that enhances, rather than detracts from, the building's premium atmosphere.
The Australian-made kiosks deliver clear, crisp messaging that grabs attention without adding visual clutter. Meanwhile, the 85-inch wall display proves that digital signage can be just as captivating as traditional art. The "paper chase" of lobby management is entirely eliminated; with Samsung VXT, the Pathway Place team can run highly targeted, scheduled campaigns that inform and engage their tenant community at the push of a button.
To meet the high visual standards of the space, Display Australia deployed a bespoke multi-screen solution that prioritised design just as much as functionality, all tied together with cutting-edge management software.
We supplied two 55-inch digital signage kiosks designed for the main thoroughfares. To ensure a premium build quality that matched the environment, these sleek, minimalist units were manufactured locally here in Australia. Their elegant, jet-black profile allows them to sit harmoniously next to velvet lounge chairs and architectural features, acting as modern, high-end information totems.
To promote the building's cultural initiatives (such as the Injalak Arts exhibition), we supplied and wall-mounted a massive 85-inch commercial display in portrait orientation. Mounted flush against the gallery wall, it perfectly mimics the proportions and placement of the adjacent physical tapestries, allowing dynamic digital posters to blend seamlessly with real-world art.
Beautiful hardware needs smart software. The entire screen network is controlled via Samsung VXT digital signage software. This cloud-based platform allows ISPT management to remotely update wayfinding, event info, and community messaging across all screens instantly, ensuring the lobby always features fresh, relevant content.
In the competitive commercial real estate market, the lobby is your ultimate first impression. Engaging tenants and visitors requires modern communication tools, but deploying those tools poorly can cheapen a multi-million-dollar fit-out.
This project demonstrates that digital signage doesn't have to look like an airport departure board. By investing in premium, locally manufactured kiosks and carefully considering screen placement (like integrating screens directly into art walls), property managers can elevate the architectural intent of their buildings while deploying highly effective, modern communication strategies.
